Collusion is a simple tool that is able to detect plagiarism in a variety of text files. It does so by comparing the documents within a folder and revealing those strings of text that are identical. It works with a wide range of formats, from TXT, HMTL, and XML, to CSV, CSS, and JAVA, supporting a total of 35 file types.
The application is designed for teachers who need to check their students papers and essays, but it is particularly useful for software and web developers.
Collusion works in a very simple manner: you just need to select the folder that you want to analyze and click a button. It can process a large number of documents simultaneously. For testing purposes, it comes with a pack of sample texts that you can use to check how the application works. Once your documents have been processed, the program will display a window with the analyzed texts highlighting all the instances of plagiarism and those passages that share a considerable degree of similarity.
In spite of the number of supported formats, the application cannot process DOC files; to check documents in that format you need to previously convert them to TXT. Still, the application works as expected; it is easy to use and can really save you the time you would spend reading and comparing multiple texts.
